This is a card I created for my dad. His birthday was last week and we were all suppose to get together to celebrate the January birthdays but dad suffered a heart attack the day after his birthday, so our birthday celebrations were post-poned. Dad is a mechanic by trade but he is retired now. I have always wanted to try punch art cards but have alway found them very intimidating! I cased this card loosely from Splitcoaststampers. I kept the layout the same, but added a bit of my own finishing touches to make it mine. Very simple to do!
I used foil paper to wrap around my cardstock, and then ran it through my embossing folder. I also added the punched out nuts using the SU Cogs punch (I believe it is retired now). To make the wrench, I just cut a piece of strip of paper and sponged the areas with basic grey - my youngest son asked why I did that and I explained that when mechanics work, they always have grease on their tools - so the sponging was to make it look a bit dirty. Nothing is ever clean!
I think this card also qualifies for Sunny Challenges 071/13!
I hope you enjoy this card as much as I have enjoyed creating it!
Here is the recipe:
Stamps: Occasional Quotes
Punches: 1" Circle, 3/4" Circle, Boho Blossoms, Cog, Word Window, Modern Label
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Basic Grey, Whisper White, Urban Oasis DSP, Silver
Accessories: Harlequin Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), Shimmer Brads (Making Memories), Foil
Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day,
~ Pat
