Thank You Corrugated Card

Hi everybody, I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas!  I did, but am glad that it is almost over!  I thought this would be a great time to reveal my other corrugated cardstock creation.  A thank you card.  It is very femine with the pink and the lace and the layered scalloped borders to make it a very pretty card.  I punched the flower out and sponged it with Cranberry Crisp.  I also sponged the very vanilla cs and each of the scalloped border punch.  I checked with some of my cyber friends to see how their challenges were coming along, but as it was such a busy time of year, nobody got a chance to play.  So I am hoping that busyness will start to wind down and everybody will get a chance to play a bit.

Just a Little Note . . .Notes

Why does it seem that whenever December rolls around, life gets really busy!  Thanks to Becky Roberts, I made a set of card notes to include with the teacher`s Christmas gift (this will form part of her gift).  These are single card fronts to use for quick notes and thank you`s.

As I didn`t have the scalloped ribbon, I used my dotted scalloped punch to create the green border and I changed my image to a candy so that in case she didn`t get a chance to use it in December, she can always use it in January.

Christmas Cards All Year Round - November Challenge No.2

My youngest DS is home with the flu today.  So while he was napping, I got a chance to stamp – sure beats cleaning out barf buckets – eeww!  Anyways, here is my non-traditional Christmas card! 

I sponged my front panel and the main cardstock with soft suede. 
I then stamped the tree in black and added the half pearls to give it some colour.  I mounted the front panel onto a soft suede panel.  I had some bright pink ribbon that I wanted to use in place of the sentiment, but then it didn t leave me any room for my sentiment. 

I punched out my snowflake and sprayed the snowflakes along with my panel with the Vanilla Smooch Spray.  I love how you can create a shimmery cardstock without having to run to the LSS.  Although the photo doesn t really do it any justice, it is really pretty in person.  Here is my group of 5 cards:

UPSY DAISY FOR SUNNY CHALLENGES #018/11

I am tired of making Christmas cards, so  was glad to see a new challange from Sunny Challenges & Creations. The brief is to use Stampin' Up!'s "Upsy Daisy" stamp set on a project based on this sketch:

As it was the Grey Cup game yesterday, I decided to base my colour choices on our home team's colours – black and orange.  Now I am not a football fan, I felt I had to honour the BC Lion's win!  I brayered my sky with More Mustard, Cajun Craze and then Cranberry Crisp.  I stamped my Upsy Daisy in versamark and then embossed with black embossing powder.  

I didn t have any Cajun Craze ribbon (next time, I ll have to think twice about a colour), so I used a strip of the Cajun Craze DS and punched out a strip in black using the dotted scallop border punch and adhered it to my card.  I think it worked out fine – gives it a masculine feeling.  I added my spiral clip to the top and tied a knotted ribbon to it.

Christmas Cards All Year Round - November Challenge

Today, I had the day off and decided to browse the Christmas Cards All Year Round to see what their sketch would be.  It has been a long time since I have participated in any challenges and thought I might have lost my mojo.  I hoed and hummed about this sketch and was not going to participate, but I am glad that I did participate.  

This is my first step card ever. 

I coloured the snowman with my SU markers as I wanted the colours to pop just as much as DS paper and added glitter to the hat pompom, the fur and the snowball. I punched out the snowflakes using a shimmer paper and added the half pearl to it.  

I hope they like my cards as much as I do.

Decoupage Bears

Oh my gosh, what a storm we had last nite!  We were without power since 11pm.  The power came back on around 1:30 am (temporarily and then out again).  But I didn`t sleep very well, due to the fact that my kitty was out there somewhere in the storm and I was also listening the wind howl and rain pitter pattering on our bedroom window.  Well can you imagine trying to get ready for work by candlelight – it is pretty difficult when you can`t blow dry your hair or see very clearly to get your contacts in.  I tried to do my makeup with 3 candles sitting on my counter.  Well needless to say, my oldest DS did make it to school – they were running on backup generator power where as my youngest DS school didn`t have any – so I wounded up calling into work and stayed home until the power came back on.  I managed to get some crafting done as well.

When I was at my LSS the other day, I saw these decoupage sheets – I`ve  always wanted to try these and am sure glad that I did!  Aren`t these the cutest bears you have seen?  Each of them have that warm snugly feeling!  I absolutely adore them.

I don't know if you can see it or not, but each card has a minimum of 3-4 layers.  I added a bit of bling to each to mark my signature. 

This one is my favourite.

 So when I showed the cards to my oldest DS, he had this cute little smile on his face - he would not admit that he liked them or that they were cute, but the little smile told me he approved! 

I like them all!  What do you think? 

Cross-stitched Card

Cross stitching is a long-time favourite hobby of mine.  I first started out cross-stitching when I found out my older sister was expecting her first (18 years ago).  I decided to make a baby blanket for now 18 year old nephew.  I did get it done in time and it is now tucked away for safe-keeping by my sis.  I don’t have the time I did 18 years ago to do large projects, but I did manage to squeeze in a card.  I started this card while waiting at the dentist office a few weeks ago.  In total, it took me approximately 2 hours to finish.  My youngest DS has staked his claim to the card as he is going to give it to his new teacher.  Hope you enjoy it!

Corrguated Christmas Card

Hello fellow stampers / bloggers!

It seems that I have gotten into a habit of starting off by saying it has been a long time. . . not this time.  I recently purchased a set of mugs.  Each mug was wrapped up in corrugated cardboard.  As I unpacked each mug, I thought to myself, what a waste!  I immediately informed my husband to not throw out the corrugated cardboard as I wanted to keep them to create some cards.  Well I received the funniest look ever!  Anyways, I did manage to come up with a few cards and have sent out a few packages out to some of my cyber friends challenging them to create with the corrugated cardboard.  I will post one card tonight and the rest later as I want to see what they come up with.

This is a card a I taught with my group of ladies – again I got the funny looks when I said we were going to reuse some corrugated cardboard – but when I showed them the card, I got the reaction I wanted – oos and ahs . . . here is my card
