Belated Father's Day Gift

I wanted to share with you what the boys made for Father’s Day, albeit am posting it late – but I always say better late than never.

This is a picture that Owen had coloured using pastels.  I absolutely love how bright the picture is and that it does nothing but leave a smile on your face.  I think he did a wonderful job in outlining the flower to show some depths.  Dad loved it too!

Sorry for the lack of posts . . .

Two weeks ago, my mother-in-law had a bad fall.  For legality reasons, I can’t post any details, but you can imagine how my time has been eaten up with almost daily visits to the hospital and cooking, etc. 

I asked my sister if she would create a little vase with my some flowers for her because I knew that these would last longer than real flowers – don’t get me wrong, we did buy her a potted plant, and she has enjoyed them so far, but because today is Easter and she would be spending it alone, I am heading up the hospital with this little surprise along with some Easter treats, of course.

I don’t have any instructions for you to copy these beautiful paper flowers, but as soon as my sis teaches me this, I’ll be happy to share with you.

Matching Cards to Memo Pad Holder

As promised, here are the matching cards to my Memo Pad Holder. It did take me a bit longer
than I expected, but at least I got it done in time to give to the teachers for Easter! LOL! When you have four teachers to give to, it makes life a bit tougher and a bit more expensive. So when giving the teachers gifts, I try to keep it to a minimum and I know that they always enjoy homemade gifts!

I put the cards in a card portfolio shown here - each holds five different cards and envelopes on the left side. I left the front cover fairly plain - again I ran out of time and it was fairly late by the time I had finished completely and wanted to take pictures before giving them away. I kept these cards fairly simple and even left the sentiments off of some of the cards so that the teachers use them for whatever they wanted to. Rather than running ribbon from the front cover to the back, I attached the ribbon to the inside where I attached the brad to hold the outside of the flap together to the main section. You should punch your ribbon to make it easier for the brad to go through.

I also found these cute little watering cans from the Dollar Store. I filled them with Chocolate Easter Eggs! I don`t know who doesn`t like chocolate! I packaged all the goodies in a little easter gift bag and am sorry that I didn`t get a chance to take pictures of them. But I think you get the picture.

Card 1 - Although you cannot see it in this picture, I used Crystal Effect on the strawberry to give it a wet look. It does look much better in person. I also cut out the leaf and popped it up to give it a 3d effect.

Card 2 - I took one of my square Spellbinders and embossed the outside square. It is a bit difficult to see and I apologize for the fuzzy pic.

Card 3 - this one is fairly simple. Coloured the apple using my markers and then punched it out using the 1-1/4 inch punch and layered it onto a 1-3/8 inch circle and then onto the scalloped circle.

Card 4 - Using the polka dot cuttlebug, I embossed the top portion of the card and layered it onto the RR cs. I had these red 3/8" brads and thought that they would add a nice touch to the card.

Card 5 - I stamped three oranges in Certainly Celery and popped the middle one on pop ups. It needed a sentiment on the bottom, so I stamped "Celebrate You" from the Phrases for a Friend stamp set.

Decorated Memo Pads

So here is what I came up with. Although the DP is retired from SU, I really like the bright and cheery feeling you get from it.

This is fairly simple to figure out the dimensions for the cover. My memo pads dimensions were 2.75" x 11".

I cut the RR cs to 6" x 11". Scored at 2-7/8" and 3-1/8" lenghthwise. I covered the top of the memo pad with the matching DS paper as I did on the front. The dimensions for the little topper was 2.75" x 2". I used the scallop punch to give it a bit of decoration and adhered it to the front and to the back of the memo pad. Then using sticky strips, stick the memo pad to the inside cover.

Stamped the cheeries onto white scrap and punched out using the 1-1/4" circle punch and the circle scallop punch in RR.

Tie a ribbon around it and voila! You got yourself a decorated memo pad! You could also put a magnet to the back of the memo pad if you did not want to cover it with cs. If you want to ambitious, you could also stamp each page of the memo pads.

These memo pads will form part of a gift for the teachers for Easter along with some matching cards which I have yet to make. Stay tuned for more!

Gift Card Set for Boss

This is a gift set I had made for my boss, whose favourite colour is purple. Sorry for the washed out colours, but it is actually prettier in real life.

Purple is really not my colour and found it really challenging to match the colours.

There are 8 cards in total. Below are just samples of what the cards look like.

I used the two flowers from Heartfelt Thanks and the greetings from Sincere Salutations.

Teachers' Gifts

Here are the tin sleighs packed of various treats for the teachers. They were a hit!

In it, there is a coaster, chocolates, a hot chocolate package, a candy tree and a gift card to Chapters.


Below are the individual pieces I made.


This is the front of the hot chocolate pouch. This is not my idea, I just borrowed it. I am sorry, but I can't remember who from.

I used a piece of 12 x 6 close to cocoa card stock and scored at 3" and then at 6".


I cuttledbug 3/4 of the white panel using the ornament embossing folder and adhered it to the front of the holder.

Using the Like it a Latte set, I stamped the cup and the foam part in Chocolate Chip. I then masked the foam part and stamped the straws in Real Red. To give it the foam, I used Liquid Applique and heated it up. Corner punched each corner and mounted it onto a scrap piece of real red cs. As I didn't have any white brads on hand, I used my white gel pen to make it look like brads.

I then stamped "warmest wishes" in Chocolate Chip from an old retired set - All Year Cheer I. I keep thinking I need to get rid of these sets, but I am glad that I still have them!


I then took a piece of the Riding Hood Red/Vanilla grosgrain ribbon and tied a knot in the middle, adhered the ends to the back of the white cs.
Here is what the inside of the of the hot chocolate holder. I had cut the end on a diagonal from the top corner to about an inch on the bottom and using a piece of sticky strip, adhered the end piece.

I attached the gift card to the other side of the hot chocolate holder.


Stamp the saying on a piece of white cs scrap and then mounted it onto real red.

Here are the litte gift bags I made to hold Icy Squares. Jut love these chocolates!

These were much easier to make than I thought.


Here are the dimensions:


Red CS (inside):

2 1/2 x 8 7/8", scored at 3, 4, 7 and 8" and at 1" for the candy holder.


Cut holder piece on scored lines on the short side, cutting the last small corner (1") off. Put together with d/s sticky tape.


For the vellum (outside):


3x11" piece scored at 5" and 6"


Stamp vellum using white craft ink and then the sentiment in real red, secure top on with adhesive or fasten with brads or ribbon or whatever you wish. Fill holder with candy and you have a sweet gift for someone special!


I also made a little bag like this for my nieces to put lip gloss in it as part of their gift!


Here are the Christmas Tree treats I made for one of my son's classmates as well as for the teachers, secretaries and the girls in the office.

I didn't make mine as big as hers and only used 3-4 pieces of candy on each skewer stick. I love the look of these together in a basket!

This the Garfield coaster I made for my other son's teacher, who informed me that she absolutely loves Garfield! I searched for Garfield stamps, but couldn't find one, so I settled for some paper I found at my local stamp store.



I cut out the Garfield and modge podged it onto the tile coaster.

Gift for Piano Teacher

This is my Christmas gift for the boys' piano teacher. I usually make a set of cards for her and came across these stickers from the $$ store.

The cards are 4x4" in size. I made up the pizza box to fit 8 cards.

I saved the grand piano sticker for the coaster as I knew it would suit the perfect gift for Sue. She is one talented lady as she also teaches voice lessons as well.

I had put the box of cards and coaster in a metal sleigh along with some chocolates and a tree treat, wrapped and guess what, I forgot to take a picture of it! Bummer!

Here is a close up of the coaster. It may look a little blurry, but the sticker had a lot of prism to it and is much prettier in real life.

Below are a few examples of the cards. You can see that I scored the edges using my Score-pal. I then mounted it onto a piece of River Rock and then onto the black.

3D Ladybug Card

Is this not cute or what? I love how you can take a few punches and turn them into something so beautiful!

This little ladybug was made using the SU Circle Scallop Punch. I punched out 5 circles of polka dotted paper, folded each one in half and started adhering them together.

I then took the 1" circle stamp and punched out a circle for the head. I hand drew the antennas.

Using my Score-Pal, I scored 1/4" on each side of my white cs and stamped my sentiment.

The card is 4"x4" in size.

I love the simplicity of this card. To mail out, just flatten the ladybug and fits nicely in an envelope - just remember to tell your recipient to fluff it up a bit.

Stamp Camp Projects

Here is a picture of my stamp camp project that will be taking place on Thursday, May 29, 2008. In this stamp camp, you will be making 3 projects for $25 - a feminine card, a masculine card and a 3-D item. All of the projects feature the Afternoon Tea DS paper from the Occasions Mini (p.8).

Pocket Card

Insert of the Pocket Card - here I used the Spotlighting Technique - you stamp the image twice and highlight by layering it.

Here is what the inside looks like. I messed up and should have put the brads on first before covering the backside, but oh well, I could always cover up the back side with a photo.

File Box

Thanks to the instructions on Sylvia Maybie's blog, I created this little file box. Actually this is my second attempt as I realized that when I finished the first one, there was a mistake and I just couldn't post something knowing that there was a mistake - so I had to create another one. It's ok though, because I believe I could really use another box in stamp room.

This is just the front of the box. I wanted to make a more feminine box so I used my corner rounder to make my scalloped edge and then I used my 1/16" hole punch to make the holes to give it a lacy look and added the purely pomegranite and pink chiffon ribbon.

Here is the top of the box. I stamped 3 flowers using from Embrace Life set onto DS paper and cut out. I adhered a piece of pink mulberry paper undneath popped up the last flower (top one). I then used my Diamonds Stickles to give it a bit of bling.



This is the inside of my file box. Using my Round Tab punch, I punched out 8 tabs and adhered them using repositioning Mono as I wanted to be able to change the tags as necessary - you'll note that the last tag is blank, but I will add to it as I find more images file away. I didn't want my magnet to show when the box is opened, so I glued it to the inside of my box. Works like a charm!

Disney Journals

Here are some disney journals I had made for my boys and myself for our trip to Disneyland. I am a bit late in posting this, but I guess better late than never. Both boys were very excited to have their own little journals for notes and their diary.

They were all a lot of fun to make and very easy! For the Tinker Bell, I had bought a journal with the flower already cut out and just traced that out and cut. Easy peesie!
